Full Description

November 1994: Assessment of area of cleared coniferous belt prior to construction of reservoir. Only features were probably periglacial in origin. A thin spread of finds were located in sandy deposits in between chalk outcrops beneath the ploughsoil, and included one flint gritted potsherd (Neolithic to Iron Age in date), six patinated and two unpatinated flakes and six burnt flint fragments (note mass of modern burnt flint on surface due to small wood and scrub clearance)(S1).

Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on context, (S2).
