Full Description
Bridge shown as 'Snapbridge' on George Lilly's map of 1546 (Snape Maltings: draft Conservation Area appraisal, Suffolk Coastal DC, June 2013, 7), and Saxton's, Speed's, Bowen's and Hodskinson's maps (S1-S4).
Construction date unknown though disputes regarding the resposibility for the repair of the bride began before 1347 (see Snape Maltings: draft Conservation Area appraisal, Suffolk Coastal DC, June 2013, 9 for discussion).
Clearly linked to roadline by causeway construction.
1932: Dated 1802 (rebuilt then?), single brick arch with stone keystone. `A fairly old-fashioned type of bridge crossing River Deben' (S5).
Precise location of original and further history not checked.
