Full Description
Watermill on `The Holt' or Cavenham Brook. Shown on Hodskinsons map of 1783 (S3). IN 1965 described as derelict, with one pair of stones and wheel (S1). `This small derelict mill of two storeys is covered with tarred weatherboarding and roofed with pantiles. She is joined to the brick and pantiled mill house, part of which is used as a studio by the owner. There is a single pair of stones driven by an iron undershot wheel. This seems to be the sole W Suffolk survivor of the small early mills of which very few are left in E Anglia, and as such is of great interest' (S2).
For earlier watermill site/s in Cavenham see CAM Misc Med.
