Full Description

1086: Three mills are recorded at Hadleigh in the Domesday survey. Circa 1306: Survey of Hadleigh Hall Manor records `manor house and gardens, 4 acres enclosed by a wall and ditch... dovecote, watermill for corn and windmill for fulling cloth... and a ducking stool beside millpond' (S1). Circa 1380: A miller is listed (S1).
1757: Inventory and valuation of mill (in Suffolk Record Office, S1). For watermills in Hadleigh see HAD 052 and 053 and Hodskinson's 1783 map. A third mill is shown NW of main town on Kirby's map of 1736 (S2).
