Full Description

Wyncolls Wills: apparently indicates an extensive settlement connected with the cloth trade around Humble Green (S1).
The Wyncoll family (16th century) established substantial clothing industry (see 'The Wyncolls of Suffolk and Essex' by Col. C.E. Wyncoll (1910) (S1).
A concentration of buildings is still shown adjoining the road on Hodskinson's map of 1783 (S3). Properties are still shown to the N of the road (as well as to the S) on the OS 1838 map (S2).
A few buildings still survive to the S of the road.
