Full Description
Staverton Hall is marked on John Norden's map of Eyke 1602 (S1)(S2). By 1845 this was arable land and it is now part of Rendlesham Forest (S2)(S3). The Domesday vill of Stauertuna was held by Hubert de Montchensey under Robert Malet. His holding included a church with 10 acres (S4). This church is said to have fallen into decay circa 1150 and another was built in the new settlement of Eyke (S2). Location of church unknown (see Misc Med).
Formerly record number sf12243 (re-number August 1999).
