Full Description
August 1999: A series of pits and ditches were identified during a watching brief carried out on the construction of a Photographic facility at RAF Mildenhall. At least one ditch and two pits were certain archaeological features and several other features were identified that may possibly be archaeological. The pits had a pale brown loam fill. A single sherd of Roman pottery and several rib fragments were recovered from the topsoil. The footing trenches had already been filled in and therefore the lack of finds rule out evidence of settlement in this area (S1).
