Full Description
June 1999: Evaluation revealed range of pottery including hand-made flint gritted (IA?), Rom and Med.
Excavation identified a large ditch of probable Iron Age date and a number of large pits, post holes and four post structures.(S1)(S2)(S3) (S4) (S5).
May 1999: Archaeological desk based assessment identified Roman occupation may impinge on the site. The evaluation area lies directly south of Sheepcote Hall, a 17th Century Farmhouse and the land comprising the development area has been under arable cultivation for at least 150 years (S6).
2001: An updated archaeological desk based was carried out on land within the Phase II development area of land associated with Cedars Park following the identification of peripheral areas of a Romano British Farmstead (S7).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 1999 (S9).
