Full Description

June 1997 - 2000: Excavation along edge of stream located waterlogged deposits including collapsed wattle fence with bases of broken vertical posts still in position, associated with animal bones, under peat. Also clear evidence of peat digging nearby. Finds including a few worked flints, a fire-crackled flint (from inside a horse skull), cattle bones with cut marks, a lava quern fragment (note mill dam identified circa 50m upstream) and a Roman greyware pottery sherd.
