Full Description

Monitoring of building footings in Northgate Business Park on the west side of the Cotton Lane frontage revealed deep deposits representing post-medieval and modern surfaces and a soil layer dating to the medieval period which overlay (or infill) a very large pit. 1 sherd of c12th-14th pottery recovered from soil layer overlying natural . A cobble surface was seen c.0.22m deep which was cut by a brick wall dating to 19th century (S1).
