Summary

Remains of kiln, function uncertain - known as lime kiln but lots of brick and tile on surrounding foreshore. Brick pedestal remaining, lots of burnt areas around. Set within island of eroding saltmarsh. Bricks show signs of being subject to intense heat.

Full Description

Remains of kiln, function uncertain - known as lime kiln but lots of brick and tile on surrounding foreshore. Brick pedestal remaining, lots of burnt areas around. Set within island of eroding saltmarsh. Bricks show signs of being subject to intense heat. S1. Found initially by Basil Brown in 1946 (see STU Misc - sf6863) but plotted in wrong parish. Considerably eroded since this initial visit - extensive areas now exposed.
