Full Description
Moat (The Grove), unoccupied, isolated, rectangular, close to CHD 006 (moat). Sword and two coins of Edward II found 1852.
C18 pottery from ditch, 1961 - "Excavated" J Ingate. (1961 finds retained by finder).
Moat measures 200 feet by 150 feet, drained by 1911 (S2).
OS (SS Rev JSP 5/12/1952) records "all there is to be seen of these moats is a slight grass covered depression in a cattle grazing field" (S1). Marked on OS maps 1883 onwards, missing from 1:10000 1975.
