Summary

Public park covering an area of 3 hectares.The park was Lowestoft's first free public park and was laid out as pleasure grounds set with winding paths and lawns planted with specimen trees. It contains buildings designed by G Simpson and William Chambers. The park was opened to the public in 1874 and was originally known as Arboretum Hill.

Public park covering an area of 3 hectares.The park was Lowestoft's first free public park and was laid out as pleasure grounds set with winding paths and lawns planted with specimen trees. It contains buildings designed by G Simpson and William Chambers. The park was opened to the public in 1874 and was originally known as Arboretum Hill. (1)

The park was subject to a level 3 analytical earthwork survey in 2018-19 as part of the Lowestoft HAZ project (2)
