Full Description

Site of former ancient (?) woodland shown and named as Buxlow Forest in 1783 (S1). Shown as 'Whin Cover' on 1837 OS map. On 1880s OS map marked as 'The Forest' (and Forest House), 'Brier Plantation', 'High Wood' and 'Whin Covert', the latter 3 of which are outside (to the SE) the area marked in 1783.
Levelled for (or prior to) construction of airfield (see THB 015) though a small area of the NE corner is still shown and named on OS maps.
Mapped approximately in HER after (S1) and OS 1880s map.
