Full Description
Area of earthworks, forming field systems, pre-dating Woodbridge airfield SUT 197 (S1).
Within area of mixed woodland on OS map - Forestry Commission?
September 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
An area of earthworks, possibly forming field systems, pre-dating Woodbridge airfield (SUT 197) were visible on aerial photographs (S2)-(S10) on Upper Hollesley Common. These features may relate to activities such as warrening or from a division of the common land into shares or parcels (S1). Earthworks which may relate to Second World War activity in the area have been recorded separately (SHER HLY 121), as have two possible areas of ridge and furrow or dole strip cultivation (SHER HLY 120).
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 16th September 2015.
