Full Description

Large (ventilation?) shaft, circa 5m diameter & 5-6m deep with a few small audits at base, discovered during construction of new Job Centre in 1970s. Details in file (S1).
Deep cavity (25ft) discovered during building works on Woolhall Street. Multiple tunnels discovered leading towards Cornhill, Cattle Market and St John's Street. (S2)

8 Sept 2010: further hole opened up in Woolhall Street may be connected - see BSE 349.
