Full Description
Sept 2004: 13 evaluation trenches (Tr 164-175 + 164B) on either side of existing A11, prior to dualling of A11 between Barton Mills and Thetford. Identified archaeology consisted of Undated circular pit and patch of charcoal in Tr 164; curvilinear ditch terminus or pit of ENeo date in Tr 164B; undated small pits or post holes in Tr 165 & 166; linear feature identified in phase two geophysical survey, but not in excavations, in Tr 167; an Undated pit in Tr 168; a possible terminus of an Undated linear feature & a ditch with a Neo sherd & 2 flints in Tr 172; a modern pit with 9 residual flints in Tr 174 and an undated pit in Tr 175.
