Medieval town of Haughley, defined from historic maps and locations of listed buildings.
Said to have held a market more ancient than Stowmarket, becoming disused at an early date.
1227/8 market and fair in use.
1231 grant of market (S1 S2).
Defined mainly after Hodskinson's map of 1783 (S3).
