Full Description
An archaeological monitoring was carried out on land at High Lodge, Santon Downham for the Forestry Commission during works to instate two new car parking areas to the north-west of the current car park complex. The work identified a ditch-and-bank earthwork (probably part of STN 061 or STN 063) that contained a small sherd of abraided pottery dating to the later Roman period, probably residual, and an earlier post-hole (S1).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2009 (S2).
