Full Description

2007: Evaluation revealed a moderate number of features, principally modern rubbish pits and water pipe trenches associated with the use of the site as allotments since the late 19th century, but also including a small number of late 18th/19th century pits. A single sherd of Thetford-type pottery and small quantities of worked flint were also recovered as residual finds from later features (S1).

2017 DBA: Gravel Pit Field illustrated on Tithe Map 1848, St Margaret's. Tithe apportionment states: Landowner: Fonnereau William Charles, Occupier: Masters William, Description: Gravel Pit Field (S2).

Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2007 (S3).
