Full Description
The earliest features identified during evaluation were a prehistoric pit, a gully and posthole containing LBA pottery. A further three pits and a ditch contained mid-late Iron Age pottery (S1).
Excavations revealed a multi-period site with four main phases of occupation dating to the Late Bronze Age, the Middle Iron Age, the Early Roman period and the 12th-14th century AD.
Evidence of a more substantial settlement during the Middle Iron Age comprised a large enclosure ditch within which were the remains of two roundhouses and a number of probable storage pits as well as clusters of postholes and small pits (S2).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2009 (S3).
