Full Description

Smithwood Green, Cockfield (site of). Roughly trapezoid/linear green shown but not named on Hodskinson's 1783 map (S1).
Former green with properties around perimeter. Mostly destroyed by construction of 2nd WW airfield (LVM 066) when inhabitants were rehoused in newly built council houses in Crowbrook (S2). A few of the properties on the N and E sides of the former green may survive.
HBSMR mapping (with difficulty) after (S1) and 1880s OS map. Tithe or other early maps needs checking.
