Full Description
Evaluation trenches revealed a series of ditches and a pit. Two features contained Medieval pottery. With the build-up of modern dumped material it was difficult to sample the area effectively. The presence of ditch fills containing pottery, abundant charcoal witnessed in some of the fills and identification of one pit-like feature suggests occupation in the immediate vicinity. This site could be related to the Medieval settlement along the edge of Carlton Green, see also CAC 027 (S1) (S2).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2001 (S3).
