Full Description
Sole surviving representative of a trade once common throughout the district. Buildings constructed mid 19th century and little altered since (S1).
Now converted to housing.
2005: Monitoring identified brick structures dated to the 19th century and thought to relate to the horsehair factory. There was no evidence to suggest the function or date of the pit but the preservation of organic material indicates a stable level of the water table (S2).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2005 (S3).
