Full Description

Opened in 1854 when the railway line was extended from Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds. During a severe storm in 1968 the original brick bridge that croosed the line east of the station was washed away. In 1965 the station close to freight trains and in 1967 the station became an unstaffed halt. The main station buildings were demolished in 1976 after becoming derelict. Parts of the original building remained to serve as storage for the signal box and line side maintenance.
