Full Description

The monitoring of construction work on a Squadron Operations building produced no evidence of archaeological features. A machine-excavated section through an adjoining carpark area produced evidence of a former landscape of hummocks and hollows with wind blown sands and the remains of a buried soil, which may have been prehistoric, and a shallow pit containing burnt flint. Three small ditches crossing the trench are thought to have been post-medieval although the evidence was not conclusive (S1,S2).
