Full Description

Long Melford Railway station opened in 1855 as "Melford" and was renamed Long Melford in 1884. The station was part of the Stour Valley Line, running between Sudbury and Cambridge. Services on the branch line between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds closed in 1961 and the line closed in 1967 as part of the Beeching Axe. The station building is now a private residence.
