Full Description

The station was opened as Needham by the Ipswich & Bury Railway in 1846 and the building work was completed in 1849. The main station building is designed in a grand Jacobean stytle with decorative brickwork by Frederick Barnes. It was later simplified by the London and North Eastern Railway who also rebuilt the platforms. It closed to passengers in 1967 but reopened as Needham Market in 1971. The mina building is Grade II listed and is now in alternate use.
