Full Description
Archaeological monitoring of. These footings had been cut through a 0.35m thick layer of topsoil, a 0.4m thick layer of brown sandy loam and into the underlying natural subsoil. No finds or features of archaeological interest were identified within the trenches, however a well built of red brick, was present close to the side of the house.
It was originally covered by a dome of brickwork, although this had been removed to reveal a circular shaft part filled with brick rubble. Two lead pipes were noted running up to the southeast side of the shaft. The well was probably contemporary wit the construction of the present house (S1).
