A church is recorded in Alderton in the Domesday survey.
Church of St Andrew. Consists of chancel, nave, N porch and W tower. Church 24 acres land, 1 acre meadow, valued 3s. N wall nave and N porch ancient structures. E part of church largely rebuilt. C14 nave.
