Monument record FSF 076 - Pre 1885 enclosures (BRIT) GEO EVAL (JNAS) EVAL

2014: Four linears trends forming parallel and perpendicular mutually respecting enclosures were recorded during a geophysical survey. They predate the 1885 Ordnance Survey map and are on a slightly different alignment to the current boundary arrangement. Also recorded was an area indicative of burning, potentially an oven, hearth, furnace or kiln of either archaeological or modern origin (S1).

2017: Evaluation revealed a ditch which was a large and deep post-medieval field boundary close to the extant Red House Farm and was likely a boundary associated with it (S2).

2021: Evaluation trenching for a planned residential development revealed evidence for three field boundary type ditches which had been identified during a previous geophysical survey. Finds indicated that these features were of Post medieval date at least when they were filled-in prior to c1880, no other features were revealed and the stray ceramic and metal from the site were all of Post medieval date. The lack of medieval or earlier stray finds suggests pastoral use in the past. (S3)
