Full Description

September 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Possible Later Prehistoric or Roman enclosures and field boundaries are visible as earthworks of ditches on aerial photographs, south of Carr Wood, Sutton, centred on TM 3104 4614. The earthworks consist of a number of rectilinear ditched enclosures and linear features and are still discernable on Lidar imagery (S3). They are not depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map (S4), and were considered possibly to represent post medieval drainage ditches, but since they are on the same scale and orientation as the field system recorded to the west (SHER SUT 145) a similar interpretation seems plausible.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 17th September 2015.
