Full Description
April 2016. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
A ring ditch of unknown date, perhaps the site of a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2). It is surrounded by the cropmarks of multi-period enclosures, settlement, trackways and field systems (HLY 158), which include several other ring ditches which have been interpreted as round houses. However, the ring ditch described here is rather larger, and has therefore been recorded separately, as it may instead represent a round barrow site. A number of other ring ditches in the surrounding area have been recorded as probable round barrows (STT 022, STT 071, HLY 152).
