Full Description
Ring ditch circa 25m diameter. Respected by a N-S field boundary of field system ADT 013, the ditches of which originate from the ring ditch and do not cross the centre. A second field boundary cuts across the ring ditch E-W (S1).
(N.B. A possible 2 further ring ditches marginally visible to the immediate N and W.)
April 2016. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
A group of three ring ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S3). Whilst it is possible that these all represent the remains of Bronze Age round barrows, it is also feasible that they relate to the eaves-drip gullies of roundhouses associated with settlement contemporary with the fragmentary enclosures and field boundaries recorded under ADT 101, which were tentatively recorded as being of late prehistoric to Roman date.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 20th April 2016.
