Full Description
1994: Construction of new pavilion revealed modern pits and ditches, (S1-S3)
2007: This DBA includes an examination of the Suffolk Sites and Monuments Record (SMR), a documentary search, an aerial photographic examination, a geophysical survey and a site walkover. The proposed development area (PDA) is situated at the top of a south-facing slope, on the eastern side of the Gipping valley. There have been previous archaeological interventions fairly close to the PDA that have located settlement and funerary remains, dating from the Later Prehistoric period through to the Anglo-Saxon period. Due to previous land-use and the possibility that there is a layer of colluvium covering the PDA the preservation of any archaeological remains present should be good (S4).
