Monument record BRF 130 - Late Saxon/ Early Medieval trackway, ditch and large pit of a probable waterhole at East Anglia One Site 3, Land North of Bullen Lane, Bramford

2017: Excavation uncovered a small U-shaped enclosure, along with a further enclosure to the south of the site. This enclosure was finds-rich with large amounts of medieval pottery recovered, mainly dating to the 12th-14th century. 2019:Seven phases were recorded, two tentatively identified as prehistoric, four medieval and one likely post-medieval. The excavations identified Late Anglo Saxon activity consisting of a droveway and a related waterhole. These two medieval holdings were probably associated with the settlement and field systems identified at Sites 1 and 2, to the west and north. Together these sites produced evidence for a medieval dispersed settlement known as Bullen or Bullen Green. See Med for further details (S2).
