Full Description
An additional shallow ditch (402), which cut layer 407, ran approximately east-west, but at a slight angle to the axis of the villa, at the south end of the trench. It measured 0.70m across and 0.35m deep with moderately sloping sides and a flat base, and was filled with mid brown garden loam (403) with fragments of pot and
tile. There was no demolition rubble to suggest that it represented the previous excavation of a robbed wall line, (S1).
