Full Description
September 2017: A variety of geophysical anomalies including those indicative of field boundaries, a trackway, archaeological pits, quarry pits, geoplogical variations and agricultural furrows (S1)
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2017. (S2).
December 2017: An evaluation revealed archaeological features in 12 of the 19 trenches, with the remaining seven being empty. The evaluation identified evidence of Roman agricultural activity, characterised by at least three (possibly four) ditches containing Roman greywares, with associated pits and post holes. A single Iron Age ditch was present, on a different orientation. There was some evidence for low level prehistoric activity on the site, with sporadic flint knapping taking place in the vicinity in the Bronze Age to Iron Age periods. (S4)
2018: An excavation identified an Iron Age pit, Roman field boundary ditches and a post-medieval or modern boundary ditch.
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2018. (S3)
