Full Description

2017: A detailed magnetic gradiometer survey was undertaken for Independent Archaeology Consultants in connection with a proposed development on land at Bacton Middle School, Wyverstone Road, Suffolk. The survey totalled c. 3.1ha. The survey recorded discrete positive anomalies across the site which could possibly represent pit like features. The survey also recorded iron spikes, most likely resulting from the recent use of the land, as well as magnetic disturbance likely originating from the metal fencing on the edge of the field, general debris and remains for the sports field. In the western part of the site, the magnetic disturbance could represent the remains of a building seen on early OS Maps. (S1)
