Full Description
Round Barrow (site of)(S1).
1935: Bowl barrow 22 yards diameter, 3 feet high. No visible ditch (S2). 1953: Bowl barrow with no surface indications of a ditch. Extensively disturbed by tree roots, rabbit holes and military trenches. Top very irregular. 21.0m x 22.5m and 1.06m high. Excavated 1953 by R Gilyard-Beer for Ministry of Works, in advance of its destruction for farming purposes. No structures or burials found. Seven sherds found on the old ground surface, including one possible Neolithic sherd. Other sherds were found in the mound and in disturbed areas, including one possible Beaker sherd. No ditch found (S3)(R1).
1962: Ploughed out, no remains (S4).
1977: Nothing visible (S5).
1994: Site descheduled (S6).
In Foxhall parish following boundary change.
