Summary

The earthworks of a possible area of flint mining and/or gravel extraction are visible on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data within the southern part of the post medieval Elveden Warren (ELV 039). The extraction appears to be bisected by a ditch assumed to relate to the post medieval warren, which could suggest that the extraction is medieval or earlier. Although the warren is likely to have continued in use into the post medieval and early twentieth century, so this ditch may relate to later activity.

January 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The earthworks of a possible area of flint mining and/or gravel extraction are visible on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S1) within the southern part of the post medieval Elveden Warren (ELV 039). The extraction appears to be bisected by a ditch assumed to relate to the post medieval warren, which could suggest that the extraction is medieval or earlier. Although the warren is likely to have continued in use into the post medieval and early twentieth century, so this ditch may relate to later activity.
