Summary

The site of a Second World War military camp is visible on the aerial photographs within Elveden Park. During the Second World War Elveden Hall became the headquarters of the third bombardment group of the United State Air Force. The camp, which consisted of several groups of military buildings and huts located around the fringes of the plantations within Elveden Park, and around the main Hall itself, and a sewage works to the south, has not been mapped in detail – locations of structures have been defined by an ‘extent of area’ polygon.

The site of a Second World War military camp is visible on the aerial photographs (S1) within Elveden Park. During the Second World War Elveden Hall became the headquarters of the third bombardment group of the United State Air Force (S2). The camp, which consisted of several groups of military buildings and huts located around the fringes of the plantations within Elveden Park, and around the main Hall itself, and a sewage works to the south, has not been mapped in detail – locations of structures have been defined by an ‘extent of area’ polygon.
