Full Description
December 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Multiple post medieval boundary banks can be seen as earthworks (which have since been levelled) on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The banks most like relate to post medieval boundary banks and may relate to two possible post medieval enclosures to the north (ELV 178 and ELV 179). Sections of the banks can be seen on the Frist Edition Ordnance Survey Map (S4) and are in close relation to a further large boundary bank to the east (IKL 181). The banks can be seen as earthworks on the 1940s aerial photographs and are presumed to be levelled as the features are not visible on recent (2016) aerial photographs (S3). Due to a lack of adequate control points when rectifying the photos, the locational accuracy of the mapping may have been slightly reduced.
