Full Description
A group of four large fishponds, shown on OS 1st ed. The form of these features is substantially unchanged from that shown on historic mapping, although the largest pond has been extended to the west. Causeways between ponds are intact. OS 1st ed notes an "hydraulic pump" south of the ponds, a small building is still marked in this position on modern mapping. It is not known whether the Victorian pump mechanism survives. The scale and form of the ponds suggests a later Post-Medieval date for the features in their current form, although they may be successors to much smaller, narrower medieval ponds.
