Full Description
Priory Farm is a farmstead on the 1st Ed OS map. The listed building information puts the construction date for the farm house as late C16 or early C17 with some C19 additions. To the rear of the farmstead is a large barn. There is a H plan courtyard in an adjacent field which is unnamed on maps so has been included in the farmstead. The H plan buidlings are all lost now. The farmhouse and large barn remain with the barn having been converted. The farmstead is set alongside a public road with other farmsteads close by to the south and east indicating a loose farmstead cluster.
Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
