Full Description

January 2020. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Sections of bank, of a probable post medieval date, are seen as earthworks (which have since been levelled) on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The banks most likely relate to a series of post medieval boundary banks which are not recorded on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (S3). The banks are in close proximity to a series of banks and holloways along the supposed course of the Icknield way (ELV 016 and IKL 364) to the east and to a possible post medieval stock enclosure (BNH 131) approximately 300m to the south. The banks can be seen as earthworks in the 1940s and have been levelled by the 1960s (S2). Due to a lack of adequate points when rectifying the photos, the locational accuracy of the mapping may have been slightly reduced.
