Full Description
Moat. Occupied, isolated. Fragments, probably rectangular, with yards.
1783: Not shown on Hodskinson map.
1878: Named as Hog Stye Farm on 1st ed OS map, 1878 ed.
c.1958: `Moat' named to E of Hill Farm (S1).
1985: Sub rectangular end of moat?, as on 1958 map, to E of Hill Farm (S1).
Lost from HER mapping with digitisation - remapped January 2009 (based largely on 1880s OS mapping - tithe map worth checking for details.
Hill Farm house is a 19th/20th c building, and there is no trace
of an earlier structure. Around the house is a series of dry
drainage ditches and water-filled ponds which do not form a
moated defence. The ditches nowhere exceed c 3.0m in width. Not an antiquity.(S3)
