Full Description

2020: Church Farm barn and its associated buildings are an historic group of agricultural buildings, reflecting the farming needs of the time, dating from the early 19th century.
This group of farm buildings, at first glance, appear to be what is known as a Model Farm, a farm built on a new modern plan with all the usual necessary buildings to cater for farming needs, regularly laid out and very uniform in appearance. In fact, Church farm is not based on the Model farm structure, typical from the early to mid 19th century, but a farm complex that evolved throughout the 19th century using similar materials, making all elements of the building look similar and very uniform.
The quality of the brick-built barn at Church Farm is outstanding among brick barns and is worthy of retention as a high quality example of early 19th century brick-built barns found throughout East Anglia.
Church farm is therefore an early 19th century barn with later additions from the later part of the 19th century and a farm house which was built in 1882 that was added to the complex at that time. (S1)
