Summary

The Norwich and Brandon Railway was incorporated in 1844, the 36.75 mile long line opening as a double track in July 1845. The amalgamation in 1845 with the Yarmouth and Norwich Company, and connection to the Northern and Eastern Company's line by a branch from Brandon to Ely gave Norwich and Yarmouth direct access to London and the Midlands.
