Full Description
`Drove ashore close to the North Pier in wind conditions NE force 10. A local smack owner by the name of Stock plunged into the surf after the vessel had gone ashore and helped save the crew of six, whilst other men went into the shallows and grabbed his clothing in order that he could remain upright. the survivors were taken to the Sailors' Home where a total of 182 men had been received in the course of the month of October, all from shipwreck.'
